Crazy Cows With 5 ED

Today we had a visit from our buddies in Grade 5 ED. They came to help us make a cow.  We love seeing our buddies and had a great time today working together.

Oatathon :)

Congratulations to all the children in our grade who participated in the Oatathon. The children did a fantastic job and ran their little hearts out!!! Everyone tried their best. We are very proud of you. All the money raised has been handed in to the PFA who will putting the donations towards our School Fete this year 🙂

Week 10 and Week 11 Prep Learning Concepts…

Week 10

The week beginning the 15th of June we will be learning:

  • Correct formation of the letters Ee, Jj, Kk
  • Revise the sounds for all of the letters learnt so far s,m, r, t, f, c, h, a, l, b, e, j, k
  • Reading – sentences and words
  • Story writing – recording beginning sounds and words, writing from left to right, capital letters and full stops
  • Maths – counting forwards and backwards, numbers 1-10, before and after, more and less, understanding to 10
  • Integrated – Farm Animals

Week 11

The week beginning the 22nd of June we will be learning:

  • Correct formation of the letter Dd
  • The sound for the letter Dd – Dolls are dancing D d d
  • Revise the sounds for all of the letters learnt so far s,m, r, t, f, c, h, a, l, b, e, j, k
  • Reading – sentences and words
  • Story writing – recording beginning sounds and words, writing from left to right, capital letters and full stops
  • Maths – counting forwards and backwards, numbers 1-10, before and after, more and less, revision of concepts learnt so far
  • Integrated – Farm – concluding our unit on The Farm.

Weekly Update (Week 9/Term 2)

Literacy:

  • Sound of the week is the letter Kk.
  • Correct formation of all letters studied so far s, m, t, r, f, c, h, l, b, a, j 
  • Correct formation of the letter Kk – ‘high stick, loop, sloping bar, flick’
  • The sound for the letter Kk – The king kicked a kettle K k k
  • Weekend Writing – recount writing
  • We will be writing an imaginative story using the topic words ‘kite & kangaroo’

Mathematics:

  • We will be learning about time and exploring the characteristics of analogue clocks.
  • We will also be learning about the days of the week, months of the year, different times of the day/night and events
  • We will also continue to practise working with numbers, counting forwards and backwards and identifying numbers that come before and after

Integrated

  • We will also be learning about the different animals that live on a farm and their purpose.

Important Reminders:

  • Word testing is on Wednesdays! Don’t forget to have one last practise on Tuesday night.
  • Reports will go home Friday 12th June
